Villanova holds on to defeat William & Mary

September 27, 2025 – Villanova, PA — The Villanova Wildcats pulled out a win on Family Weekend against the William & Mary Tribe, 31-24.

The Wildcats struck first when David Avid (24) dove for the score after the offense drove 92 yards to set up the TD.

But the Tribe scored 2 subsequent touchdowns to go up 14-7, before Avit again found the end zone on a 15 yard run. The Tribe held the lead 17-14 going into halftime.

In the second half, Nova’s Ja’briel Mace (4) took the opening kickoff 100 yards to the house. Later, Jack Barnum kicked a 43 yard field goal, and Avit scored again to put the ‘Cats up 31-17.

But William & Mary didn’t give up, capping a 75 yard drive with a QB run to pull the Tribe closer. Nova’s defense took over from there however to close out the contest 31-24.
