September 24, 2022 – VILLANOVA, PA — It was a heartbreaking loss for the Villanova Wildcats, once the 10th ranked team in the FCS Coaches Poll. The Monmouth Hawks surprised the Wildcats with a last minute win at home.

Monmouth’s QB, Tony Muskett, was 11 of 17 for only 161 yards, but RB Jaden Shirden rushed for 211 yards including the winning score with only 46 seconds left in the game.

Villanova’s offense was strong behind Jalen Jackson’s 187 yards and three TDs. But they ran out of steam after a game ending interception thrown in the end zone by Connor Watkins.

Nova’s next game is away facing the Maine Black Bears.
