May 18, 2019 – Another year and another successful MMR*B*Q day-long concert event at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ. This year the weather was comfortably perfect as fans filled the venue to see this year’s rock and roll lineup. Featured bands included local selection Siravo, Bad Wolves, The Glorious Sons, and Fozzy (during the general admission time), with Joan Jett and The Blackhearts kicking off the nighttime headliners.
This year’s top bands included The Struts, Evanescence, and Shinedown – what way to close out the event! The Struts started their 11 song set with recent hits Primadonna Like Me and Body Talks. This is one band that really connects with the crowd, and the energy is like a pendulum between fans and leader Luke Spiller. The set was capped off with Could Have Been Me, The Struts first major hit.
Next up was Evanescence, founded out of Arkansas by lead singer (and pianist) Amy Lee. Riding their 2015 relaunch and 2018 Synthesis album release, the band has grown in popularity – and it is easy to see why. Amy’s belting voice led the 13-song set with What You Want, and included hits Going Under and Call Me When You’re Sober, wrapping up with their 2003 mega-hit Bring Me to Life.
Headliner Shinedown then took the stage to booming fireballs, which quite frankly caught this photographer in the pits off guard! Their 13-song set kicked off with Devil, and included hits Enemies, Second Chance, 45, and brought the evening to a close with their hit, Sound of Madness. What a way to end the concert day, with frontman Brent Smith enticing the crowd, while high-flying bassist Eric Bass never let up the entire set!
