Villanova outlasts Albany’s comeback attempt

October 22, 2022 – Philadelphia, PA — Villanova dominated the majority of the game, but barely squeaked out a win against the Albany Great Danes, 31-29.

Connor Watkins threw three touchdown passes to Rayjoun Pringle, Dez Boykin, and Jaaron Hayek. But it took a 28-yard field goal by Matthew Mercurio on the final play of the game to secure the win.

Nova running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye bolted for a 70-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter, and totaled 136 rushing yards. Watkins completed 18 of 26 passes for 292 yards for the Wildcats, and Pringle totaled 143 yards on four catches.
