Villanova Football glides to win over Long Island

November 15, 2019 – Villanova, PA — Under the Friday night lights, Villanova (now 9-3) dominated the Long Island University Sharks 35-7.

In the first quarter, Nova scored with a 17-yard pass from Daniel Smith to tight-end Simon Bingelis. Minutes later, Smith connected with Jaaron Hayek to put the Wildcats up 14-0.

In the second, Villanova continued the offensive wave when Change Hodge hauled in a Smith pass before running into the shadows. LIU answered with their only score of night on a Malcolm Denbow 6-yard TD run. Nova closed the quarter with another Smith pass to Hodge, and Nova led 28-7 at the half.

Villanova’s defense pounded LIU all night, including several jarring kickoff return stops. The ‘Cats finished the scoring for the match with a 5-yard TD run by Daniel Smith.

Nova then controlled the ball for the rest of the game to glide to the 35-7 win.
