Villanova clinches CAA Championship Title after win over Delaware

November 20, 2021 – Newark, DE — The rivalry “Battle of the Blue” football game between the Villanova Wildcats and the University of Delaware Blue Hens never fails to entertain. Saturday’s match was no exception, as the Wildcats came from behind at halftime (10-7) to defeat the Blue Hens 21-13.

The win also helped Nova clinch the CAA Championship title, shared this year with James Madison.

Villanova’s scoring leaders included QB Daniel Smith (#12) who went 12 of 26 for 208 passing / 47 rushing yards and 1 TD, Justin Covington (#1) 1 of 2 for 30 passing / 44 rushing yards and 1 TD, Jalen Jackson (#36) 21 rushing yards and 1 TD, and Jaaron Hayek (#11) 117 yards receiving and 1 TD.

Villanova’s win secured a #5 national seed and a first round bye in the 2021 FCS Playoffs. Nova’s next game is Friday Dec. 3rd 7pm under the lights at Villanova Stadium, and seen nationally on ESPN+.
