Sixers’ G-League Blue Coats crushed by Austin Spurs

February 10, 2024 – Wilmington, DE — The Philadelphia Seventy Sixer’s G-League affiliate Delaware Blue Coats were sorely missing many of their stars in a crushing 128-87 loss to Austin Spurs, the affiliate of the San Antonia Spurs.

In a back to back series in which the Blue Coats beat the Spurs in overtime the night before, they fell flat without Kenneth Lofton Jr, Terquavion Smith, and Ricky Council IV – all with two-way contracts with the Sixers. Council had a career record game for the Sixers tonight, and was the Player of the Game!

The Blue Coats have a very kid/family-friendly and festival-like environment for their games. Eagles’ Defensive End Brandon Graham was also on hand with his kids for his first time at the Chase Fieldhouse, and was nice enough to sign fan autographs.

The Coats just looked tired, especially on defense, as the Spurs were hitting on all cylinders. Delaware’s top scorers were Marcus Bagley (#7) from Arizona State with 20 points, Aminu Mohammed (8) with 17, and Jeff Dowtin (21) with 16. Jarron Cumberland (34) had 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Next up for the Blue Coats are the Long Island Nets Tuesday in NY.
