In the evening’s second match-up, the USA WNT squared off against Germany. It was especially exciting for local fans to get to see Carli Lloyd, who hails from nearby Delran, NJ up close. The match itself was timid in the first half with limited scoring chances and neither team able to break the 0-0 score. Things changed 9 minutes into the second half when forward Lynn Williams scored on Germany goalkeeper Almuth Schult to put the USA up 1-0. USA goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher was strong in the net and kept Germany off the board to preserve a 1-0 win for the USA to the delight of the 16,318 fans at Talen Energy Stadium.
