
March 27, 2025 – The legendary psychedelic pop group of Montreal headlined a sold-out show at Underground Arts. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed album The Sunlandic Twins, the band took fans on a nostalgic and reinvigorating journey with their 20th Anniversary Tour.

of Montreal breathed new life into the The Sunlandic Twins, reimagining the album with fresh visuals, soundscapes, and unexpected riffs. It was an experience that showcased the band’s evolution while paying tribute to the album that solidified their place in indie pop history.
Hailing from Athens, GA, of Montreal is composed of frontman and lead guitarist Kevin Barnes, bassist Ross Brand, drummer Clayton Rychlik, and keyboardist Jojo Glidewell. Together, they craft an eclectic blend of sounds that have earned them a dedicated fan base.
The set opened with an instrumental interlude of “Requiem for O.M.M.2”, setting the tone for what would be a visually and sonically immersive show. Two performers wearing white, full body jumpsuits emerged from backstage, standing side by side. A projection of colors and patterns fall upon their body, turning them into The Sunlandic Twins themselves.










It was a theatrical, colorful, and psychedelic experience with trippy lights and projections, background dancers cycling through wild costumes, and large animatronic figures scaling the entire stage. This unique musical identity makes them as fun to watch as they are to listen to.
of Montreal’s influence spans generations, and their ability to connect with both longtime fans and new listeners are proof to their talent. The 21-year-old to my left shared how his dad had introduced him to the band years ago, passing down a deep appreciation and love for them music.
This show was more than a celebration of an album—it was a celebration of the band’s journey and the loyal community that has followed them every step of the way. of Montreal’s commitment to artistic expression is what keeps fans coming back for more.
