Providence shuts down the Wildcats’ offense for 58-54 win

January 29, 2020 – PHILADELPHIA, PA — It was not what Nova Nation had in mind for Fan Appreciation Day on the Sixers’ home court at the Wells Fargo Center. The Providence Friars’ defense shut down the Wildcats offense to take the low-scoring win between the Big East opponents, 58-54.

Providence led for the entire game, starting off with a 10-1 lead in the early minutes of the game. And while Nova closed the gap to 2 with less than 4 minutes left in the game, they could never completely overcome the early deficit.

Scoring leaders for Providence were #12 Luwane Pipkins (27 pts), #4 Maliek White (15 pts), and #13 Kalif Young (6 pts.) Leaders for the Wildcats were #2 Collin Gillespie (13 pts), #41 Saddiq Bey (11 pts), and #24 Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (10 pts.)

With 2 more regular season games to be played, Nova heads to Seton Hall for a matchup on March 4.
