The Soul took an early lead 14-0 on touchdown passes from QB Dan Raudabaugh to WR Ryan McDaniel and WR Larry Brackins. Pittsburgh scored a touchdown of their own when QB Steven Sheffield connected with WR Mike Washington (who won Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game), before Philly’s Derrick Ross punched in a 9-yard rushing touchdown to put Philadelphia up 21-7 at the close of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw Pittsburgh narrow the gap. Sheffield hit WR James Robinson for two scores and Washington ran in a 5 yard touchdown. The Soul scored 14 points of their own on a 30-yard touchdown catch by WR Tiger Jones and a second rushing TD from Ross. At the half, Philadelphia led 35-27.

Robinson and Washington each caught another TD pass for the Power in the third quarter and the Soul added two more of their own, a 8 yard strike from Raudabaugh to McDaniel and a 55-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by James Romain which helped Philly maintain its seven point lead heading into the forth quarter.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the game not only opened on a 14-0 run, it closed on a 14-0 run as well, and this time, it was the Power doing the scoring. A 3-yard run by Washington and a 8-yard catch by Robinson put Pittsburgh up by five but the Soul still had chances to win the game.

The Soul was stopped on a fourth and one at the Pittsburgh one yard line but managed to shut down the Power down on defense to earn another shot on the offensive side of the ball with 31 seconds to go. Desperate to win the game, Raudabaugh was picked off in the Pittsburgh end-zone to close the door on any hope for a last second victory. With the loss the Soul dropped to 3-4 on the season.
