September 10, 2022 – STATE COLLEGE, PA — The Penn State Nittany Lions kicked off their home opener in front of over 107,000 blue & white faithfuls, and crushed the visiting Ohio University Bobcats 46-10.

The offensive engine was led by sixth-year Sean Clifford, and freshmen Drew Allar and Christian Veilleux. This QB-sharing was by design to give the younger quarterbacks reps in case Clifford gets injured during the season.

The game scoring for the Lions began with a short Clifford rushing touchdown, followed by a 70-yard run by Nicholas Singleton.

Penn State’s defense continued the scoring very early in the 2nd with safety. Jake Pinegar added 3 with a 25-yard field goal. Clifford ended the quarter’s scoring with a TD pass to Mitchell Tinsley. And Ohio’s Sieh Bangura finally put points on the board with a short TD run.

In the second half, Ohio could only manage a field goal to end their scoring for the day. Meanwhile, Allar threw 2 more TD passes to Omari Evans and Khalil Dinkins, and Pinegar closed the game with another field goal.

Penn State travels to Auburn next week to face the 2-0 Tigers.
