Panic! At The Disco at Wells Fargo Center

Panic! at the Disco brought their ‘Pray For The Wicked’ Tour to Philadelphia last weekend, on Friday, July 27, 2018. Perhaps Mother Nature panicked that she didn’t have a decent view of the indoor show, and her resulting tears were the reason for the massive rain storm which hit outside of the Wells Fargo Center. As the skies opened up outside, Hayley Kiyoko was on opening duties inside, warming up the wet-but-no-less-excited fans that poured into the venue.

The show opening was incredible, as frontman Brendon Urie was shot up from under the stage. He kicked a few times and landed perfectly with the mic in hand to start ‘(Fuck A) Silver Lining’. From that point on, starting with ‘Don’t Threaten Me with a Good Time’, the show literally and figurately had Urie jumping off the stage throughout the night. The sold-out performance had the crazed fans in the audience on their feet the entire night. The evening was filled with other surprises, including Panic! At The Disco covering Billy Joel’s ‘Movin’ Out’ as Joel himself was performing right across the street at Citizens Bank Park.

This was a bit of a homecoming of sorts for touring drummer, Dan Pawlovich who started in Philadelphia with the band Valencia. Overall, the Pray For The Wicked Tour show is more like a Broadway production as they spared no expense with massive effects throughout the evening, leaving many fans with wide eyes and mouths agape. The set wrapped with a cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, followed by ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’. Panic! At The Disco returned for a three-song encore of ‘Say Amen (Saturday Night)’, ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’, and ‘Victorious’.

The tour, in support of the band’s sixth studio album, ‘Pray for the Wicked’, continues through August before heading across the pond to England with A R I Z O N A, and Hayley Kiyoko as the opening acts. If you have a chance to catch them in your city, don’t panic, calmly buy yourself a ticket and get ready for one hell of a ride!
