Historic Millville Army Air Field hosts Fan-Packed Airshow

September 4, 2021 – Millville, NJ – Aviation fans packed the historic grounds of the nearby Millville Airport this Labor Day Weekend for a celebration of American history, pride, and air power. The airport was dedicated as “America’s First Defense Airport” in 1941, and in 1943, the Millville Army Air Field opened as a gunnery school for fighter pilots.

This year’s “Wheels and Wings” Airshow event was highlighted by the United States Air Force (USAF) F-22 Rapture Flight Demonstration Team, and the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team under Team Leader Jesse Robbins.

Other performers included the Jersey Jerks Flight team, Jacquie B stunt demo, Mark Meredith’s DHC-1, ChefPitts S1S aerobatics, Jerry Conley’s Vampire demo, and USAF Heritage Flight of the F-22 Rapture and a vintage P-51 Mustang.

The family atmosphere also provided numerous concessions and vendors, and featured several static vintage aircraft, as well as an impressive car show.
