Gillespie Powers Villanova Over Georgetown
Feb. 3, 2019 PHILADELPHIA — With a career high 30-points, Collin Gillespie helped lift the #14 Villanova Wildcats to a 77-65 victory over Patrick Ewing’s Hoyas in the Cat’s home-away-from-home arena, the Wells Fargo Center.
The evening started off with a pre-game “senior night” specifically for 2-time National Champion, 2018 AP Player of the Year, and now-NBA star for Dallas Mavericks, Jalen Brunson. The home crowd let Jalen know they appreciate all he gave them over the recent years.
But the game itself started slow for Nova, especially in 3-point land. Later in the game, Gillespie, Phil Booth, and Eric Paschal then led the scoring for Nova later. Gillespie hit 6-of-11 3-pointers and 83% from the free-throw line. Paschal tallied 24 points, and Booth had 14 with two 3-pointers.
Nova remains unbeaten in the Big East. They will face Creighton next at their on-campus home in the Finneran Pavilion.
