We decided to venture up to the Tower Theater in Upper Darby on Tuesday, October 14th to check out the ‘Flying Lotus’ show. Typically, we would expect this to be a weekend show given the popularity of FlyLo; however, the abundance of concerts booked this fall in the city of brotherly love has forced the hand of the midweek concert. We were wary of how many fans would venture out on a Tuesday, but to our surprise, there was a healthy sized crowd.
Flying Lotus is currently touring to promote his newly released CD ‘You’re Dead’. The producer has an eerie and unique sound that brings out fans of all genres. What really stole the night for us though was the stage production. We have been to all sorts of shows where the visual accompaniment is a large part of the event. It’s routine to experience lasers and LED screens, but Flying Lotus travels with a truly one-of-a-kind visual and sensory experience.
The stage can best be described as a 3D cube, mapped with trippy visuals, and FlyLo residing it the middle of it all. The closest thing that it can be compared to is the stage that Zebbler created for ‘Shpongle’.
Overall, we are definitely glad that we checked out Flying Lotus and we highly recommend that you check him out the next time he makes a pit stop in your city! We’ll be returning to the Tower Theater twice in the next 10 days for other exciting shows with STS9 and Big Gigantic. You can enter to win tickets to either/both of those shows by CLICKING HERE.
