Flyers drop a heartbreaker to San Jose in OT

January 8, 2022 – Philadelphia, PA — Philadelphia Flyers led the San Jose Shark 2-0 early in the 3rd period, only to lose another painful match in overtime, 3-2.

After a scoreless and defense-oriented first 2 periods, the Flyers went on top with 2 quick goals by James van Riemsdyk. But then it was the Shark’s Tomas Hertl’s show, who scored his second goal of the period to tie the game with 5 minutes remaining. Tomas did it again, scoring his hat trick goal with only 24 ticks into OT.
