Emel emerged wearing a gem-encrusted corset that complemented the large golden crown on her head. She walked onstage in slow motion, commanding grace—and the audience responded with silence. Then she unleashed haunting and mesmerizing vocals.
The set seamlessly fused modern electronic beats, traditional Arabic lyrics and melodies, and masterful vocals that felt emotional, ethereal, and multilayered. It was easy to lose oneself in Emel’s voice, which carries unmistakable power and depth. Her artistry is unparalleled and driven by musical experimentation, cultural immersion, and activism.

MRA is a beautiful collection of female voices and expressions. As a 100% women-made record, featuring all-female and queer collaborators, Emel is committed to empowering women in a male-dominated industry. By working with female trailblazers like Nayomi, an Iraqi-Swedish rapper featured on her newest single “Lose My Mind,” Emel highlights visionary women in the music world and demonstrates how creative and successful female minds can be.
Emel is a true artist, creating music that is entirely her own. With an incredible voice and a strong message, her passion for social justice infuses every song and performance. When you see her live, you can’t help but be mesmerized by her presence.
