
January 25th, 2025 – David Gray, the British folk-rock icon, played to a packed house at The Met in Philadelphia as part of his Past and Present tour, promoting his latest album, Dear Life. His 13th studio album has been receiving critical acclaim from both music critics and fans alike.

Gray’s discography has always explored emotions we all experience in our daily lives: love, loneliness, hope, heartbreak, and change—just to name a few. Every time he performs, you can feel that he relives the emotions he felt when he first wrote his songs.
The evening began with Gray at the piano, opening with Plus & Minus, the first single from Dear Life. After a thunderous round of applause, he picked up his guitar and launched into White Ladder and My Oh My from his breakthrough album White Ladder.
The night was filled with storytelling—like a great evening spent with old friends. David Gray is not only a truly talented musician but an extraordinary performer. His distinctive vocal delivery, combined with his exceptional songwriting and storytelling, sets him apart.
It was a truly magical night, with Gray’s absorbing voice bringing his brilliant lyrics to life. You couldn’t help but be drawn into the performance. His relaxed, fun presence on stage made the concert even more special.
