September 25, 2021 – State College, PA — Big10 met CAA in a battle between two Pennsylvania teams that have not met since 1949! Almost 106,000 filled Beaver Stadium and hundreds more partied in the tailgating lots, in one of college football’s best atmospheres.
And while #6 Penn State won 38-17, Villanova gave them a closer-than-expected game, holding the PSU offense to only 80 yards rushing on 34 carries.
That was the good news for Villanova. The bad news is that they allowed 401 passing yards (a record for QB Sean Clifford), while losing special teams’ player Tyler Will to a concussion.
Detailed game stats and scoring plays on ESPN. Next up for Penn State is a string of Big10 rivals, including Indiana at home on Saturday. Villanova travels to James Madison in 2 weeks.
