The Undefeated 7th ranked Louisville Cardinals overwhelmed the winless Temple Owls 30-7 at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday afternoon. Louisville was led, as they usually are, by Heisman Trophy candidate (and most likely 1st round NFL draft choice) QB Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater completed 24 of 34 passes for 341 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The 5-0 Cardinals rolled to a 24-0 halftime lead over the 0-5 Owls as Bridgewater passed for two touchdowns, Dominique Brown ran for a touchdown, and John Wallace kicked the first of his three field goals.
In the second half, Wallace kicked two more field goals to stretch Louisville’s lead to 30-0. The Owls avoided being shut out when freshman QB P.J. Walker threw a 9-yard pass to Jalen Fitzgerald with 38 seconds left in the game. Walker replaced starter Connor Reilly in the second quarter after Reilly started off 3 of 7 for 25 yards.
Temple will again be looking for their first victory this season when they travel to Cincinnati on Friday night. The Owls will return home the following Saturday to host Army.
