The Villanova Wildcats basketball team will appear on ESPN networks a total of 17 times this season as part of the Big East television package, including a February 20th game against the defending national champion UCONN Huskies on Big Monday.
Head coach Jay Wright and the Wildcats will also be showcased on CBS against the Georgetown Hoyas on February 25.
Nova’s schedule will feature home and home games against Cincinnati, South Florida, and Marquette.
In addition to the above, the Cats will play in the Old Spice Tournament in November, the Jimmy V. Classic against Missouri on December 6th, and a Big Five game vs. St. Joseph’s on December 17th. It will be the first time Villanova will play St. Joseph’s on the Hawk’s campus. Previously, St Joe’s played their Big Five home games at the Palestra.
The complete Villanova schedule will be released within 7-10 days by the school according to the Athletic Department.
August was a whirlwind month for the Wildcats. They played a series of games in Europe early in the month against several national teams. In mid-to-late August, junior Isaiah Armwood notified the school that he would be transferring before the upcoming season. The month ended with the news that 2012 recruit Savon Goodman, a 6-6 forward (Academy of the New Church), has decommitted from his verbal agreement to play for Villanova. Goodman, who is widely regarded as a top 50 recruit, will also switch high schools for his upcoming senior year.
In other VU sporting news, the football team kicks off their 2011 season tonight against Temple University in the Mayor’s Cup at Lincoln Financial Field.
