Flyers Edge Past Predators, Carter Hart Stays Hot

Dec. 20, 2018 PHILADELPHIA — The Flyers needed another strong showing from their new goalie, and rookie Carter Hart did not disappoint.  Hart tallied 31 saves during his second NHL start, helping the Flyers to a win over the Nashville Predators 2-1.  Flyer’s goals were scored by captain Claude Giroux and right winger Jake Voracek, also giving interim coach Scott Gordan his second straight win.

Hart made incredible saves to kill off a Predator’s 5-on-3 power play just before the end of the 2nd period.  He then made a glove save in the 3rd period, stopping a Roman Josi shot to keep the Flyers in front.  Nashville’s only goal was from Nick Bonino early in the 2nd period.

A special pre-game recognition was held for former player Scott Hartnell, who recently announced his retirement from the NHL.  Hartnell dropped a ceremonial puck and posed for photos with former teammates (Giroux for the Flyers and Josi for the Predators.)  The teams will meet again on January 1st in Nashville.  The Flyers play the Columbus Blue Jackets next at home.
